The oil spill in the Gulf has done more than cause the U.S. voter to rethink "Drill Baby, Drill." It has allowed public radio's NPR to slide into the ranks of major news outlets in the United States.
NPR's ascendancy dovetails with the widespread firing of seasoned reporters in major newspapers across the nation. NPR has the resources to actually investigate, as well as report. And this oil spill crisis has shown that.
The information that oil rig workers were held for nineteen hours, before being allowed to see their families, and asked to sign liability release documents came from an NPR report. Critical information, that.
So all the worry about the Fox echo chamber are a little misplaced. There is now a strong voice on the left. Hooray.

Poisoned Water: Reagan's Real Legacy
Why is it that autism has been dramatically on the rise since 1980? The Reagan Administration was responsible for the deregulation of environmental controls that pumped toxins into our water supply and our Earth.
Now it seems that the EPA is finally going to regulate the toxic sludge coming out of factories. Finally. It's in our waterways, the ground, the air and our bodies.
One day we will find out how badly our health has been affected by these toxins in our environment. Then Reagan will look very different indeed.

Alternative Energy or Clean Energy?
The two are not necessarily related. The question is: what is more or a priority - relying on ourselves for energy, or protecting the environment?
In the future, you will see these two interests diverge.
Personally, I'm in favor of energy independence first. The sooner we can tell those oil nation to take a hike, the happier I'll be. Imagine a world where you no longer have to think about the Middle East. Hooray!
In pursuit of my patriotic duty, I am now composting, making my own yogurt which is WAY better than the store stuff, starting the seeds for my garden, and growing sprouts. Damn, I feel superior.
