If the Pope's remarks are so offensive to Muslims, why are they living out that description of them?
Econo-Girl's humble opinion is that most Muslims are simply unused to freedom of speech. Remember, words don't kill. Firebombs do.

While I'm not a christian, or member of any of the major religions, the popes tend to pretty secular in mindset, that position requiring quite a bit of political wit. If Benedict's point is that the muslim faith trends towards violence, I can agree with it. Not that the christian faith is a whole lot better. I believe that it is, but only after undergoing some painful adjustments through the centuries.
People will be people, is sometimes the most important point to keep in mind.

A good way to show you're not violent is to burn down churches and shoot nuns.
Show me a major religion NOT spread by the sword and I will show you Buddism.
The Catholic Church is just as guilty of spreading religion using fear and death threats as Islam.
