The United States needs the auto industry because we need the factories in case we need to produce weapons in them.
The United States needs to support the rail system because it is the fastest way to move thousands of troops from one side of the country to the other.
The United States needs to maintain its highways and bridges also to facilitate the movement of troops from one side of the country to the other.
People whose insight includes only profit take a lot for granted.

Haliburton / KBR will just buy the empty factories then get a no bid here is a blank check write in whatever number you want contract to make whatever.
Just watch. They will come up with a recovery plan and present it to congress.
And if it does not include a line saying "kill the union" the right will reject it. Then if it passes anyway, it will be more "socialism" from the left.
And of course - no way was this management! Oh no, it is the union workers on the assembly line. How dare they ask for a wage they can live on! How about this plan - get rid of some layers of management - and LOWER EXECUTIVE PAY. Ditch the company jet. Ditch the managerial bonuses.
But no. That will never happen.
National health care would ease the burden the auto companies got into with retires. And current employees. In fact, national health care would mean no industry would have to include health insurance as part of the benefits package.
Something to think about??
