Eat the Poor

Who are those stupid people lolling about wanting our hard-earned money? Don't tell me how hard it is to work two full-time jobs to feed your family. Econo-Girl doesn't care!

And now you get a tax break for health insurance. Heh heh heh. You don't pay taxes. What does that mean? You get nothing! Old George Bush is keeping up his end of the bargain all right. Eat the poor! You will solve poverty!

You said, Eat the poor! You will solve poverty!

As the man said, there is nothing new under the sun, and this bit of satire was taken to its logical extreme in 1729, by Jonathan Swift, in his famous essay, A Modest Proposal.

Great minds, etc... Good take on W.'s speech, though.

I wonder why the President even brought up health care. Tax my intangible benefits so that those who pay for a private plan can get a tax write off? What the crap?

If the uninsured could afford a private plan in the first place then they would make more than I do, and therefore would not need the tax write off.

This is just something that right wing radio shows can blab about as a "working solution that the Democrats do not want to enact because they hate tax cuts".

Bush had 6 years to do something. ANYTHING. He had a majority in both houses of Congress that would have given his agenda minimal resistance.

And what did he do? Jack Squat. Nothing. So he lost his majority. And suddenly now he is worried about his domestic agenda. Now that the new congress is about to move it for him.

So what about the ideas in Mass. & Calif. requiring everyone to carry health insurance ?

Fuzz, I think they are great ones. Universal health care!
